I am the Co-ordinator of the Employee Volunteering Programme in the Canterbury Area.
To date, we have one Employee Volunteering project organised during Awareness Week and that is two women from Westpac assisting NZ Plunket with packing of bags with information for mothers in out-lying areas.
There are other projects which I will be chasing up this week.
The businesses most involved in Employee Volunteering in the Canterbury area are ANZ National Bank, Westpac, IAG, GE Money, Eaton Power Quality Company, YellowPages, Invitrogen New Zealand Ltd, OfficeMax, Christchurch Electrical Ltd, Capital Investment Planning Ltd, Bunnings Warehouse.

Volunteer Awareness Week (VAW) is a great opportunity to highlight volunteering and the wide range of volunteering roles available within the New Zealand community. It also encourages first-timers to give volunteering a go. This year, VAW will be held from Sunday 15 to Saturday 21 June 2008. VNZ will be compiling a list of activities that will be held by local volunteer centres and our members.
