More than 500,000 sport & recreation volunteers around the country put in many hours, each and every week. Without volunteers, sport wouldn’t happen in New Zealand.
To acknowledge this vital role, SPARC is running a campaign during Volunteer Awareness Week again this year. The aim of the campaign is to recognise the important work of sports volunteers and to encourage New Zealanders to thank them.
The campaign has kicked off with billboards featuring a special volunteer of eight high profile sports stars from a variety of sports and representing different regions of the country.
During the week 15 to 21 June radio advertisements featuring four of the sports stars telephoning their volunteer to say thank-you will be aired on a number of stations.
Posters of the eight volunteers used in the billboards will be made available for our partner organisations to distribute and display and e-cards will be available online at www.sparc.org.nz for individuals to send a personalised message to their volunteer/s.
